Team Expectations

For the Fox Hall Fins to have a fun and successful season, we need to ensure that swimmers, parents and coaches work together at every practice and meet. Please read and discuss these expectations with your swim family.

As Fox Hall Fin Parent: I am expected to volunteer my time in support of the team. At a minimum this will involve performing six volunteer shifts. I will ensure that my children abide by the swimmer’s expectations as stated below and the code of conduct. I understand that I may contact the parent representative should I have a question, concern, or grievance concerning the swim program. I will declare if my child is swimming in every swim meet through RSVP on SwimTopia. I will address any concerns or issues with the coaches before or after practice – not during. This is to maximize the time available for swimmer and coach interaction during practices. I will model good sportsmanship and community spirit at meets. I will recognize and respect that meets are run by parent volunteers and that my attitude and behavior reflects on the team and our community. I will not approach any officials during the meet. Questions will be addressed to the coaches.

As Fox Hall Fin Swimmer: To be a member of the Fox Hall Fins, I am expected to enter and exit the pool independently. I am expected to swim a form of Freestyle for 25 Meters without touching the lane line or bottom of the pool. I am expected to be comfortable on my back in the water either floating, kicking, or swimming. I will wear proper competitive swimming attire for practice. I will remain in the pool area during practice sessions. If it should be necessary for me to leave during practice, it is my responsibility to notify the coaches. I will follow the code of conduct. I will listen carefully to the coaches instructions at all times and conduct myself in a way that will not disturb others during practice or at meets. On meet days I will make every effort to arrive at the meet on time, rested, and ready to do my best. I will treat the coaches, the parents, and others with respect and I will be treated accordingly. I will display team spirit and go to every meet with a winning attitude.

Code of Conduct: For our Fox Hall Fins summer team, we strive to set high standards for behavior. We expect that swimmers will listen to coaches and work hard to execute drills to the best of their ability. We don’t expect simmers to be perfect and perform on the first try, but to put forth their best effort. We expect them to respect their teammates and coaches and to be a positive influence in practice. We expect them to exhibit sportsmanship during practice and meets as representatives of themselves, their families and the team. We will work with the swimmers and parents to help swimmers reach their potential. However, in cases where the athlete causes consistent distractions, our discipline procedures can include any of the following, at the discretion of the Coach(unless noted):

  1. a warning
  2. a temporary time out from practice
  3. removed from practice
  4. suspension from the team for two weeks without refund(With consultation of the Swim Committee)
  5. removal from the team without refund(With consultation of the Swim Committee)
